Bio:

Mackenzie is an Instructional Coach with the ACCESS Project for Standards-Based IEPs, which strives for best practice construction and implementation of IEPs according to grade-level and age-appropriate standards and competencies. He also supports the Universal Design for Learning initiative, where he advocates for proactive lesson design that considers student variability and cultivates expert learners within the classroom.

Before arriving at CDS, Mackenzie worked with students in a number of different roles, beginning as a classroom teacher at a school for students with complex learning needs. He then transitioned to the role of Learning Support Coach in the New Castle County Vocational Technical School District, at St. Georges Technical High School. Prior to joining the ACCESS project, he was employed as an Educational Diagnostician and Transition Coordinator at MOT Charter High School. Mackenzie believes that regardless of what kinds of educational barriers may arise, all students deserve the opportunity to be appropriately challenged within a classroom environment where they feel represented and supported.

Mackenzie lives in Middletown, DE with his wife and two sons. He is an avid Philadelphia sports fan and enjoys running, playing basketball, and spending time with his family in his spare time.
