CLSC program assistant Rebecca Jewell

Recent UD graduate Rebecca Jewell will support UD students pursuing the CDS-administered Career and Life Studies Certificate (CLSC) as a program assistant. CLSC provides a two-year postsecondary course of study for young adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Jewell, who studied Human Services and Disability Studies at UD, spent her years on campus as a disability advocate. As a freshman, she started the Unified Theater club, which brings together people with and without disabilities to produce plays. She discovered CLSC as a sophomore when she took a class on mentoring, and returned to the program to fulfill her degree’s internship requirements. As an intern, she spent more than 450 hours working with the CLSC program, where she mentored CLSC students, coached other undergraduate mentors and served as a teaching assistant. She also played a part in starting the CLSC residential program, which enables CLSC students to live independently in dorms on campus.

As program assistant, Jewell will continue working with CLSC students and undergraduate mentors. She will also teach a course in professional development and network with other UD departments to develop new opportunities for the program.
