2018 Special Olympics in Seattle: Here’s how Team Delaware fared

Jillian Mathews, a Special Olympics athlete from Felton, waves a ribbon during the opening ceremony of the USA Games on July 1 in Seattle. The Kent Wild Cats runner won a silver medal in the 4x100-meter relay, a bronze in the the 800-meter and was in the top 10 in two other events.

The 20 athletes making up Special Olympics’ Team Delaware brought home 45 medals across 14 team and individual sports. Wilmington native and Special Olympics veteran Tyler Kennedy appeared in a commercial called “Just Like you” which aired before and during the USA Games.
