IRS issues warning about coronavirus-related scams

The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) warned taxpayers to beware of calls and emails purporting to be from the IRS seeking personal or financial information. The IRS commissioner said that the agency will never call or email individuals with requests for that information, pointing people instead to IRS.gov for up-to-date information on financial matters such as the “economic impact payments” that will be sent to most Americans in the coming weeks.
